Three months have gone by since the release of the first version of the Scripting Layer for Android Tablet Remix. In that time quite a few changes have been made to the upstream version of the Scripting Layer for Android (SL4A) and I have had a few people asking me when these features are coming to the Tablet Remix. So just in time for Christmas I am pleased to announce that these changes have been imported into the source code for the Tablet Remix and it is now completely up to date with the latest SL4A features! Probably the most significant of these is the Full Screen UI.
You can see the full list of changes that have been imported here: http://code.google.com/r/liamgreenhughes-sl4a-tf101/source/list?r=52a73895120f4f3595518432010685383e7155a2. As my version of SL4A was based on the source code from July 2011 quite a few interesting features were not included. So it has been great to bring it right up to date and bring in the new features and enhancements that have been developed in the main project. I am keen to continue to develop the Tablet Remix and hope to have another version out maybe in Spring 2012. I am planning to do more work on my modifications to the code so that this version of app will eventually work with devices running versions of Android prior to 3.0 (Honeycomb). If you fancy remixing the app yourself you can find the source code at: http://code.google.com/r/liamgreenhughes-sl4a-tf101/.
If you already have the SL4A Tablet Remix installed on your device then this version should just upgrade your installation. It is probably a good idea to back up your scripts before you upgrade though - just in case. If you haven't tried this app before then you can find full installation instructions at the end of this post: Scripting Layer for Android Tablet Remix - Release announcement. The new APK installer file can be found at the end of this post.
Have fun!
